Why Add Flares Here
Five flare styles
Classic with warm hexagon ghosts, anamorphic with a blue horizontal streak, cinema in teal and orange, sun with long bright rays, and vintage in soft red.
It goes where the light is
By default the flare finds the brightest spot of the shot and eases along with it, so a window or a headlight carries the flare; a shot with nothing bright in it gets none. Or make it sweep across the frame, or fix it where you put it.
Strength and size
Set how strong and how large it is, and keep it to the subject, or everything but the subject, with the effect scope.
A flare transition
In the editor, Lens flare is a transition between two clips: the flare swells over the cut and the next clip arrives out of the glare, with a sound to match.
Stack it
Over a grade, halation, bloom, film grain or a VHS look; every effect is a layer, and the order is yours.
Free, private, no watermark
The flare is drawn in your browser. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stamped on the export.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a lens flare to a video for free?
Open the tool: the Lens Flare effect is already on. Load your clip, choose a style, and the flare finds the brightest spot. Export an MP4 with it burned in.
Can I make the flare follow a light?
The default source is the brightest spot in the shot, eased so it glides rather than jumps. For a specific light, use the fixed position, or keep it to a tracked subject.
Can I use a lens flare as a transition?
Yes. Add two clips in the editor, click the cut and choose Lens flare as the transition.
Is it an overlay video?
No: it is drawn live on your picture, so it adapts to the frame and has no file to download or license.
