Why Halation Glow Effect Works Here
A real bloom, not a blur overlay
Bright areas are isolated, blurred into a wide glow and screen-blended back over the frame, so only the bright parts of the shot bloom — a lamp, a window, a sunlit face.
Warm gold-white, not red
Tuned for the dreamy slow-motion edit look — gold-white glow plus a faint warm wash — rather than the red fringe of literal film halation.
Glow Intensity slider
Turn it down if a bright or hazy clip washes out, or up to 150% for more bloom on darker footage. It changes the glow's strength, not which pixels glow.
Paired with Golden Hour
The preset adds the Golden Hour cinematic LUT at 60% underneath, so warm highlights and the bloom agree with each other.
Works with tracking too
Switch to any tracking mode and the glow wraps the tracked outlines as well — neon boxes and skeletons bloom like light sources.
Record it or keyframe it
Record the glow to MP4 or WebM, or animate Glow Intensity with keyframes to bloom in on a beat.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a halation effect?
Halation is the soft glow that spreads around bright highlights on film. This filter recreates the popular exaggerated version — a warm, hazy bloom — digitally and in real time.
How do I make the glow stronger or weaker?
Use the Glow Intensity slider under Post-Processing FX in the Style tab. 100% is the default, and it runs from 0 to 150%.
Why does my bright video look washed out?
The glow is strongest where the image is already bright, so hazy or overexposed footage can bloom everywhere. Lower Glow Intensity, or pull Gain down in Color Adjustments.
Can I use it on a pre-recorded video?
Yes — load any MP4, MOV or WebM file and the glow renders over it; Record saves the result.
Is it free?
Yes — free, no signup, and it runs entirely in your browser.
