Vis Exo USE CASE — GREEN SCREEN ALTERNATIVE

Free Green Screen Alternative (No Physical Screen)

No green fabric, no chroma key lighting rig — Motion mode isolates whatever's moving from a static background using frame-differencing, live, from any webcam or video.

GET THE LOOK

Three steps from this page to a finished clip

  1. 1

Open the Green Screen Cutout preset

The button above opens Vis Exo in Person Tracking mode with this look already applied — a “Preset loaded” note confirms it.

  2. 2

    Add your footage

Allow your webcam, or load a video with a person clearly in frame. MP4, MOV and WebM all work.

  3. 3

    Fine-tune and export

Adjust anything in the sidebar — add a Cinematic LUT, animate it with Keyframes — then Record to save an MP4 or WebM.

What you get

Why Green Screen Alternative Works Here

Frame-differencing, not color keying

Motion mode compares each frame against a running background reference to isolate what's actually moving — no specific backdrop color required, unlike a real chroma key setup.

Works with an ordinary room, not a studio

No green fabric, no dedicated lighting rig — a reasonably static, evenly-lit background (a wall, a room corner) is enough for clean separation.

Adjustable sensitivity

The sensitivity slider tunes how much frame-to-frame change counts as "motion" — dial it to your lighting and camera noise floor.

Auto-Reset Background

Auto-Reset periodically re-seeds the background reference so a gradual lighting change (clouds passing, a lamp flicker) doesn't quietly kill sensitivity over a long session.

Style the isolated silhouette

Fill Shapes, custom colors, and post-fx all apply to the isolated motion outline — a stylized silhouette, not just a raw mask.

Record the result

Record captures the composited output — live feed plus the motion-isolated overlay — as a downloadable WebM or MP4 file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an actual green screen for this?

No — Motion mode isolates movement from a static background using frame-differencing (comparing consecutive frames), not color keying, so no green fabric or backdrop color is required.

Will this work with any background?

It works best with a reasonably static background — a wall or room corner works well. A busy background with its own movement (trees blowing, people walking past) will get picked up as motion too.

How is this different from a real chroma key setup?

A real green screen keys out a specific color regardless of movement. Motion mode instead detects change between frames — it isolates movement, not a color, so a still subject in front of a static background won't be detected until it moves.

Can I record the isolated output?

Yes — Record exports the full composited motion-isolated overlay as a WebM or MP4 video file.

Is it free?

Yes — runs entirely in your browser, free, no signup, no download.
