Vis Exo GUIDE — DATA EXPORT

Export Motion & Object Tracking Data to CSV, Free

Every tracking mode doubles as a data source — frame-by-frame coordinates, bounding boxes, and velocity for each tracked object, exported to CSV or streamed live over OSC/WebSocket. No server round-trip, no account.

Three steps from this page to a finished clip

  1. 1

    Open the Data Export preset

The button above opens Vis Exo in Object Detection mode with this look already applied — a “Preset loaded” note confirms it.

  2. 2

    Add your footage

Point your webcam at the scene, or load any MP4, MOV or WebM video.

  3. 3

    Fine-tune and export

Adjust anything in the sidebar — add a Cinematic LUT, animate it with Keyframes — then Record to save an MP4 or WebM.

What you get

Why Tracking Data Export Works Here

Vis Exo isn't only a visual effects tool — every tracking mode produces structured, per-frame data alongside whatever's rendered on screen: an ID, position, size, and velocity for each tracked object. That data can be exported as a CSV file once tracking finishes, or streamed live as JSON over a WebSocket while it's running. Useful for movement research, sports/dance motion analysis, generative-art pipelines in Processing or p5.js, or feeding a live installation controller.

Frame-by-frame CSV export

One row per frame per tracked object — ID, center X/Y, bounding box width/height, and velocity — downloadable once a recording or analysis pass finishes.

Live JSON over WebSocket

The TouchDesigner / OSC panel broadcasts the same data live instead of waiting for an export, for anything that can open a WebSocket client.

Works across all 7 modes

Blob, Motion, Face, Object, Pose, Person, and Hand tracking all export data the same way — not a feature limited to one mode.

Built for research and analysis

Plain CSV/JSON drops straight into a spreadsheet, Python/pandas, or any other tool that reads structured data — no proprietary format.

Also feeds TouchDesigner, Max/MSP & Ableton

See the TouchDesigner Alternative guide for the OSC/WebSocket streaming side of this in more depth, including a ready-to-paste receiver script.

Nothing leaves your device

Detection and data export both run entirely client-side via WebAssembly — no video or photo is ever sent to a server to generate the data.

Frequently Asked Questions

What data is included in the CSV export?

Frame-by-frame telemetry for each tracked object: an ID, center X/Y coordinates, bounding box width/height, and velocity, one row per frame.

Can I stream tracking data live instead of exporting a file afterward?

Yes — the TouchDesigner / OSC panel broadcasts the same per-object data live as JSON over a WebSocket, so a tool like TouchDesigner, Max/MSP, or Ableton (via Max for Live) can consume it in real time instead of waiting for a CSV file.

Does data export work for object detection and pose data, not just blob tracking?

Yes — CSV and live streaming export work the same way across all seven tracking modes: Blob, Motion, Face, Object, Pose, Person, and Hand.

What can I use the exported tracking data with?

Any tool that reads CSV or JSON — spreadsheets, Python/pandas for research analysis, Processing or p5.js for further visualization, or TouchDesigner/Max/Ableton via the live OSC/WebSocket stream.

Is my video uploaded anywhere to generate the tracking data?

No. Detection and data export both run entirely in your browser — no video or photo is ever sent to a server.
